Folding Pedals
These pedals fold up against the crank arm to reduce the width of the folded bike. While not intended for high performance mountain riding, they do serve a purpose for those with tight space constraints.

5 or 6 years ago when I ordered a Montague, I ordered it with the folding pedals. I have ridden in Saipan, Guam, Japan, Korea & South Carolina. The folding pedals are great. I am moving my bike up cargo ship ramps & doors frequently. When I had to switch t regular pedals, that’s when I realized that the folding pedals are much, much more than just a great idea.
