Here in the United States, the 11th day of the 11th month is designated as Veterans day. A day to honor and remember the men and women who have served our country through military service. We wanted to take this opportunity to salute those veterans, past and present who have had the bravery, courage, and dedication to put their lives on the line for others.

Veteran’s Day began in 1919 under the name Armistice Day. It was created to celebrate the end of the major hostilities of World War I which came to a close on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, with the German signing of the Armistice. In 1945, World War II veteran, Raymond Weeks suggested that the holiday be expanded to honor all US Veterans. Gen. Dwight Eisenhower supported the idea, and since 1947 we have had a National Veterans Day.

Montague Bikes has always had a strong connection to the US military. From the design of our Paratrooper bike under DARPA, to it’s use in Iraq and Afghanistan, to the many servicemen and women who use our bikes for transportation or leisure across the world, we are very proud to a part of such a community.

To our veterans and active service members, Thank You.
