Montague folding bike featured in Wall Street JournalIt’s been a very busy beginning to the week here at Montague.

This past weekend the Wall Street Journal published an article covering folding bikes, including the Montague Crosstown, and how they have entered the mainstream and become “cool”.

Of course, readers of this blog have known for a long time how cool folding bikes are, and in Montague’s case, have the added benefit of also being full-size performance bikes that function as well or better than their other full-size counterparts.

However, it is certainly telling as to the overall public perception of a product when an international main stream publication such as the Wall Street Journal does a three-quarter page story plus online coverage.

The coverage didn’t stop there.

BikeBiz.com, one of the most read cycling news websites in Europe also picked up on the article which includes a quote from Montague’s Marketing Manager. The folding bike market is currently at least as big, or bigger in Europe as it is in the United States so coverage like this is great for the industry.

And to top off the weekend coverage, Outside Magazine featured the Boston in their Design and Tech guide. Outside Magazine prefaces the article like this:

“From game-changing new materials (like moisture-wicking cotton) to evolutionary leaps in engineering (like a rotating helmet for extreme crashes), the avant-garde of 21st-century gear has just one thing in common: a total disregard for the status quo.”

Stay tuned. I’m sure they’ll be additional coverage as more people discover what we have known for years – folding bikes are cool.
