Thierry Jacquet on the Uyuni Salt Flat in Bolovia with his Paratrooper Pro
Some bikes can get you across town, and others can take you across the world. Montague is proud to offer folding bikes that are capable of taking riders to the extreme; across mountains, deserts, and entire continents. And if you need proof, meet Thierry Jacquet, a Montague rider who has proudly put 12,500 kilometers on his Paratrooper Pro.
Since 2022, Thierry has adventured across Europe, navigated through the windy mountain roads of Southeast Asia, and trekked 7,700km from Peru to Argentina on the spine of the perilous Andes mountains. While his Paratrooper Pro certainly bears the marks of a bike well ridden, he is proud to say that it has never let him down.
Bikepacking through the Andes Mountains in Argentina
My Montague, named “bicéphale” as I call him in my videos, has honestly become much more than just a bicycle over these past years — it has been my companion across Europe, Asia, and South America, and soon, hopefully, across Australia as well… It has accompanied me through deserts, mountains, rough roads, tropical climates and remote regions where failure was not an option.
Designed for military use, Montague’s line of Paratrooper bikes are durable, reliable, and heavy-duty, all while still being able to fold for easy storage and travel. As Thierry rode the Paratrooper Pro through steep mountain passes and over dangerous crossings, the frame held firm, even impressing other bikepackers and travelers.

Many travelers and cyclists were surprised to discover that such a capable expedition bike could also fold.
Years before his first major expedition, Jacquet came across a story of a Montague rider who got his bike stolen in the United States during an around-the-world adventure. What makes the story memorable, he says, is that Montague helped replace the stolen bike.
That act of solidarity stuck with Jacquet, so when it came time for him to pick a bicycle for his cross-country rides, he already knew that Montague was the right choice.
I found that gesture incredibly meaningful. It showed me that Montague was not only building strong bicycles, but also genuinely caring about the people riding them and the adventures attached to them.
Up next, Thierry Jacquet has his sights set on Australia or Japan, hoping to complete another cross-country journey to add to his impressive resume.
