For the last year, Ed Elliott has been exploring the national parks of the United States with his motor-home and trusty Paratrooper Pro. His most recent trip took him through Moab Utah and Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona where he was able to put the Paratrooper Pro’s off-road abilities to good use.

Ed has been a road rider for years but wanted something more versatile for his travels — a bike that could handle rugged trails, gravel and a bit of pavement. With a wide gear range, fast rolling knobby tires, and a suspension fork with lockout, the Paratrooper Pro fits that criteria perfectly. Plus it folds in seconds for travel.

Not a bad spot for a trailside stop. Looking out from the north rim of the Grand Canyon.

Space is at a premium when you’re living out of an RV and keeping your bike outside on a rack exposes it to damage, theft, and harsh weather. Folding bikes from other manufacturers are generally made with pavement riding in mind. Small wheels and narrow tires don’t fare well when you want to explore mountain bike trails (or even a campground). Luckily, Montague makes some of the only folding bikes designed for rough terrain. When Ed rolls off the trails, his Paratrooper Pro easily stows in one of the bottom storage compartments of his motor home.

Photos truly cannot do the Grand Canyon justice and with hundreds of miles of hiking and mountain biking trails it’s a must visit for the sights and the riding.

In the last year alone, Ed has ridden his Paratrooper Pro in Florida, Georgia, South & North Carolina, Tennessee, Chamberlain SD, Keystone SD (Mount Rushmore), Yellowstone National Park, Moab UT, Grand Canyon National Park, Sedona AZ, McDowell Regional Park (Fountain Hills AZ), San Antonio TX, and Ouachita National Forrest (Hot Springs AR).

And he has no plans to slow down any time soon! Ed says, “Most of my riding is because I prefer a bike to get a good workout. However using the Montague in all these locations has left me with a lot of great memories that are a lot more grand than just exercise.”
