1. WEAR A HELMET. We don't sell helmets so there's nothing in it for us other than we want you to live. Riding a bike without a helmet is plain stupid and in some states even illegal. Go to your local bike shop and have them show you the proper fit and then WEAR IT EVERY TIME YOU RIDE.
2. READ YOUR MANUAL. Your bicycle manual should become your new best friend. There is amazing information in this booklet and it could save your life - so read it! If you can't find your manual download it today. No excuses - read it.
3. BEFORE YOUR FIRST RIDE. Know how your bike operates. Now you may say, "I know how to ride" but every bike is different and each bike comes with a ton of components. Make sure you know your bike inside out before you take it for a ride. Some of the things you should check out are: how the brakes work, how to shift properly and that your steering is aligned properly. With your Montague bike there are several key quick releases that you should make sure are securely fastened before riding. All Montague bikes come with a frame quick release, front wheel quick release, and seat post quick release - check all of these before each ride - this is another it could save your life moment - so please check each quick release carefully and make sure they are securely fastened and in the closed position before riding. Some bikes may also have the following quick releases: rear wheel quick release, brake quick release and if your bike has the Octagon stem there a quick release there as well. Not sure - ask your local bike dealer or give us a call (800-736-5438) before riding your bike.
